Plans Unveiled for New Destination Pump Track at Perdiswell Park
Residents are being invited to have their say on exciting plans for a new destination pump track at Perdiswell Park, following the unveiling of the proposed design at a community engagement event today.
The event, held at Perdiswell Leisure Centre gave local people their first look at the detailed design for the pump track, which is set to become a major new recreational feature for the park. The unveiling included five detailed planning drawings showing what the new pump track will look like and how it will be laid out within Perdiswell Park. The scheme has been designed to be inclusive and accessible, with two pathways from the main entrance, including a fully DDA-compliant route to ensure access for all users.
The new pump track is intended to cater for riders of different ages and abilities, providing a high-quality facility for cyclists, scooter riders and other wheeled sports, while encouraging healthy, active lifestyles in a safe and purpose-built environment.
Following the engagement event, the full set of design drawings will be published on the City Council website, allowing residents who were unable to attend in person to view the proposals and submit comments and feedback.
Subject to final preparations, the appointed contractor is scheduled to begin work on site from 5 January, with construction expected to be completed by the end of March, weather conditions permitting.
The Council is keen to hear from local people and encourages residents to review the plans online and share their views as the project moves towards delivery.
Councillor Mel Allcott said “This is a really exciting addition to Perdiswell Park and something residents have been asking for. The overwhelming success of the pump track built at Battenhall Park last year has shown just how popular these facilities are, and this new track will build on that by providing a modern, inclusive space that encourages people of all ages to be active, outdoors and enjoying our green spaces.”
Councillor Jessie Jagger added “It’s been great to see such strong interest in the plans already. Designing the track with accessibility in mind, including a DDA-compliant route, is an important part of making sure everyone can enjoy and access this new facility.”
Councillor Karen Holmes commented “Investment like this shows our commitment to improving local parks and leisure facilities. We’re keen for residents to engage with the designs and give their feedback as we move towards construction early in the new year.”
